About Issy

Issy Laing became a Registered Reflexologist in 2018, after a lengthy career in the corporate sector, both in South Africa and internationally, focusing on sales and marketing of products to construction, and management development training programmes to corporate SA.
During her training industry experience, Issy developed a deeper understanding of interpersonal behaviours, sparking her enthusiasm for human development and potential.
Martial arts training in earlier years inspired her interest in Eastern philosophies and theories - gaining further understanding of the therapeutic benefits of movement.
After leaving the corporate world, Issy embarked on preparation for her second career in therapeutic healthcare. She studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at UWC Natural School of Medicine for one year, laying a strong foundation for further study within the scope of Reflexology.
She subsequently registered with Allied Health Professions Council after completing the internationally recognised reflexology course by Inge Dougans, which integrates reflexes and meridians in both assessment and treatment protocols. Personal experiences with health challenges—both her own and those of loved ones—ignited her interest to learn more about complementary medicine and lifestyle modification.
Issy also sees her role in Reflexology as an educator, (working within her Scope of Practice), aiming to inspire clients and patients to improve health through achievable, incremental changes, while understanding the complexities of discipline and emotional motivations.
Her practice is grounded in providing therapeutic touch through foot reflexology, with an ethos centered on holistic well-being: nutrition, rest, activity, community, creativity, and positive thinking as forms of preventive medicine.
She continues her education with ongoing reading, research, and CPD courses, currently undertaking a fifteen-module online programme in Naturopathy Wellness to further enrich her practice. This training reinforces the ancient TCM understanding of the emotional dimension of physical health.
Issy recognises the boundaries of reflexology and refers patients to medical and integrated healthcare providers when care needs exceed the professional scope defined by AHPCSA.
